We are strangers
From long ago we are strangers
we said what needed to be said,
Like the stones lying on the land
In life each took a place, instead.
So we have closed to each other
All the paths and roads with bumps
Like two distant medieval towns
With walls and spears and bumps.
But when at night my weary brain
Has shut the gates high and low
You find a way to get in straight
A way only you know.
Once you’re in, like in parkways
Into volutions you come to be.
Entering dreams so carelessly,
Haunting and laughing, waving at me.
But as the morning draws near
You start moving high and low.
And in the silence, you step out
From the path only you know.
As the day breaks. Life starts to flow
As before, with ups and downs
We both remain invincible
Like two distant medieval towns.
