WOMAN, YOU’VE DRAWN MY LIFE AND LIFE I’VE DRAWN
Woman, you’ve drawn my life and life I’ve drawn,
We’ve fought in light and kissed in darkness born,
We’ve decided to part and said; “Alright, it’s done!”
Yet again, we’ve kissed as if a final one.
We’ve lied to each other, yelled “I don’t love you!”,
Spit upon the saying we were meat and stew,
We’ve boasted contracts made in America’s heat,
We’ve said a thousand times; the cup’s full, complete.
Then we’ve embraced; “Oh, I was just in a dream.”
I’ve entered your flesh like a river in desert’s gleam,
We’ve been sick and secretly prayed to the sky,
Our souls hollowed by fear, like the threadbare tie.
And yet we’re entangled as the dice have rolled,
We’ve split the mattress with a line (oh, a line of gold),
But in darkness, we’ve crossed the border like barbarians bold,
With Balkan swagger the U.N. has not foretold.
Woman, you’ve drawn my life and life I’ve drawn,
You’ve drunk all the venom, and I’ve drunk it all too,
But here we can’t go on without this cursed brew,
Never cease, oh battle, and may you be blessed too!
