Happiness is a universal goal for all human beings. Every individual seeks ways to build a peaceful, joyful, and fulfilling life. However, the way we construct our happiness is of great importance—not only for ourselves but also for those around us. When we attempt to build our happiness on the misfortune of others, we not only show a lack of empathy, but we also create an unstable foundation for our own contentment.
History and everyday life offer us many examples of individuals who have pursued personal gain at the expense of others’ rights and feelings. For a temporary benefit, they have left behind suffering and injustice. But can something that stems from another’s pain truly be called happiness? At its core, happiness built on the ruins of others is an illusion, doomed to fall apart.
People are inseparably connected to one another. This means that one person’s happiness often affects the happiness of others. True and lasting happiness only comes when it is built in harmony with others—by helping, supporting, and sharing joyful moments. One cannot feel sincere peace in their soul if, in achieving their goals, they have caused harm or hurt someone else.
Building happiness on the misfortune of others is like building a house on sand. It may appear strong and beautiful for a while, but sooner or later, the foundation will collapse. Instead of seeking selfish gain, we should strive to create a world where personal happiness does not conflict with the well-being of others.
In conclusion, true happiness comes from a clear conscience and harmony with those around us. Therefore, let us build a happiness that does not depend on others’ misfortunes, but on the help, support, and love we give them. Only then can we feel deep and lasting joy in our hearts.
