When Parents Grow Old
Let them grow old
With the same love
That raised you.
Let them tell stories
As they once listened to you
When you babbled.
Let them win the game
And feel joy.
Let them meet friends
And boast of grandchildren.
Let them keep their worthless trinkets,
Which you call “once upon a time.”
Let them make mistakes,
Enjoy life,
Find happiness on the path,
And when the road ends,
Let us hold their hands,
As they once held ours,
When we began a new journey.
