POEM BY MARIY GÁL’S (HUNGARY)

TOGETHER – FOR EACH OTHER

The old desire and wish of mankind,
to live in peace and freedom
Safe, loved, happy,
let flowers bloom instead
of anger in hearts
don’t let toxic, fierce hatred fly,
an adult orphan should never remain an orphan
let there be light on the face instead of tears.
Finally let there be happiness and peace,
what a spirit of war,
haunt me not
the song of the heart and soul strings
no longer disturbed by murderous gunshots
And one should not live in humiliating fear
in the shadow of cannons,
in deadly terror.
Never be a man, a man’s wolf,
Every Nation Should Have Free Will
The precious soil of the world should not be trampled by tyrants
may he live in happiness,
his father, his grandmother,
The light of the life-giving sun should not be covered by dark clouds
let light shine in every thought.
understand and accept each other with respect,
helping together with a common will
create, protect peace and tranquility,
let this be the noble aim and deed of mankind,
let’s show the beautiful world of life when
peace, freedom, love and spirit pass through it.
